Colclasure to join Arkansas Game and Fish Commission

LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has hired Chris Colclasure as an assistant deputy director. He replaces Ricky Chastain, who retired last month.
Colclasure has been the director of the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission since 2013. At the AGFC, he will assume leadership of the Wildlife Management Division, Fisheries Division and Federal Regulatory Program. He will begin his new duties Aug. 1.
“I am truly excited to be a part of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission team,” Colclasure said. “I’m very appreciative of the last 14 years at the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission and how that time has helped prepare me for the next step in my career.”
AGFC Director Jeff Crow said he looks forward to Colclasure coming on board.
“He’s been with the ANHC for 14 years and also has served as the assistant director and the chief of land acquisition and stewardship. Obviously, he brings a great deal of experience in natural resource management to our agency.”
The ANHC has about 50,000 acres of its natural areas in the AGFC wildlife management area system. The AGFC and ANHC work together on the state’s wildlife action plan, recovery of rare species and habitat restoration.
Before his employment with the ANHC, he worked in floodplain management for the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission. Colclasure has a B.S. in biology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is a Certified Public Manager through the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium. He is experienced in large-scale conservation efforts, natural areas land management, real estate, policy and public relations. Chris is an avid sportsman and enjoys sharing outdoor experiences with his family.
