USDA program removes 615 feral hogs from WMAs and private land

LITTLE ROCK – Last week, crews from the Arkansas and Tennessee/Kentucky U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Missouri Department of Conservation, removed 615 feral hogs on both public and private
land in northeast and southeast Arkansas. Feral hogs were removed from Trusten Holder, Cut-off Creek, Choctaw Island and Big Lake wildlife management areas and adjoining private lands.

Aerial operations were held Feb. 26-27 and March 1-2. For short periods, the WMAs were closed for public safety during the flights.

The aerial operation was the result of planning and coordination of multiple partners, condensed into four days. The AGFC, MDC and USDA APHIS wants to thank the public for their patience and understanding while these activities were underway and apologizes for any inconvenience related to the operation.
